In referred cases, Judge Baxter has adopted the standing orders from the assigned District Judge.
The sample forms on this website are representative examples of orders used by Judge Baxter in cases assigned to District Judge Schroeder and in consent cases, prior to modification by the Court based on the circumstances of each case. The forms are provided for counsel’s convenience, may be changed without notice, and do not supersede any order issued in a particular case.
Before appearing in court, please review our courtroom technology page for information about available presentation systems and required connection adapters. Attorneys should ensure they have compatible equipment to connect with our courtroom display system.
CONTACTING CHAMBERS:
Many procedural and scheduling questions are answered by the information available on Judge Baxter's website or the Rules & Orders page of the Eastern District website (https://txed.uscourts.gov/?q=rules-and-orders). Chambers staff will not discuss any substantive matter or give legal advice.
Parties may contact chambers regarding procedural matters that are more efficiently addressed via email or phone call, to notify the Court of a recently filed emergency motion, or to inform the Court that a disputed matter has been resolved.
Any email should copy opposing counsel. Any phone call should have opposing counsel on the line. Any party or counsel contacting chambers with a question or statement—without the opposing party or counsel present—shall explain why the other party or counsel is absent. The Court will then communicate the question or statement in an email, along with the Court’s response, to all parties of record.
